The project «Learning from Mexico» is a platform where I share my insights, research and observations on Mexican building culture. The emphasis lies on public and social projects in architecture and urbanism.

In October 2018, during a coffee break in the office where I was working in Zurich at the time, I read the Swiss magazine werk, bauen + wohnen. An article about young Mexican architects caught my eye. Mexico was not a country I had ever given much thought to. The desire for enquiring was awakened and created a lasting enthusiasm. What I read about the collaborative approach of Mexican architects and their receptive way of working led me to quit my job and book a flight to Mexico City a short time later.

My name is Laure Nashed. I am a curious architect, fond of Mexico and eager to learn more about this country. This project is a project of the heart and does not claim perfection. My ambition is to inspire people and bring them closer to this vibrant building culture. The country of Mexico seems to me to be boundlessly exciting, especially because of the contrast with Switzerland from a cultural, historical and socio-political point of view and the way these themes are dealt with in architecture. In the long term, I would like to enhance the exchange between architects and planners from Europe and Mexico with «Learning from Mexico».
